Social connections are an important component of our lives. Our social life is more than parties, dinners, cocktails and invitation driven events. It is the picture frame that surrounds the landscape of our life. It can give context and relevance to everything we do. When we hear a funny story or see a beautiful sunset we often don't feel we have fully experienced it if we don't share it with another. Read a good book and we naturally want to discuss it with a friend or recommend it to another. Oddly enough, we often allow our social networks to rely totally on happenstance. Instead we can cultivate our social life by participating in new experiences that expand our social borders. A vibrant social life comes from getting involved in new circles where something as simple as a conversation... or a shared observation... can lead to a cup of tea... can lead to a life-long friendship.
